Kindness Lasts in a World Made of Things That do Not

Kindness Lasts
in a World
Made of Things
That do Not

Whilst I do not profess to remember everything that has happened in my life, where people have gone out of their way to show kindness and compassion – I do remember them.

Early in my days as a spiritual healer, when information was sparse, I vividly remember Tony Payne who lived in Glastonbury, England who, together with his wife Margaret, spent many hours encouraging and sharing their wisdom and it was through their enthusiasm for the work I was doing, enabled me to “take the plunge” and leave a well-paid full-time job and follow my passion which is helping people through my healing. Whilst they have both now transitioned, they were my inspiration and I have much to thank them for.

Moving to the U.S. in 2002 I expected doctors to welcome me as a healer with open arms. However, I quickly realized that in terms of integrating complementary medicine into mainstream healthcare, America is sadly years behind most of Europe. It was the 45th Medical Doctor I phoned who said” Yes I am very interested in what you do – let’s meet for tea” who showed me compassion and was willing to help us get established.

I later learned he is a urologist and surgeon at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, and he sponsored my wife Kim and me to offer a talk on Energy Healing in the heart of the city, to which some 110 people turned up. That came at a time when I was beginning to wonder why the universe had guided us here when things were going so well in England with our healing Center and workshop training.

A friendship developed and Healing in America has much to thank him for – we connected at the right time and the right place!

Kindness lasts in a world made of things that do not. Showing care, empathy, and love – the “invisible” elements that make life worth living – are ways to make certain that our spirit remains present long after our journey has passed.

Compassion is not necessarily easy work. Forgiveness and acceptance can be challenging, forcing us to swallow our pride now and again. But ultimately, putting ourselves into someone else’s place helps us better understand one another and the nature of our interconnected lives.

Time after time we see how one small action can reverberate throughout a family, a town, a society – showing that goodness is a flame that never dies when it is passed from one person to another. Goodness only inspires more goodness.

Having appreciated the help I have been shown, I continue with “paying it forward” to others who are starting on a path and need help, encouragement, and a belief in them as I was shown the same, which have enriched my life beyond my wildest dreams. Not in monetary terms, but in my heart.

Seeing how people attending our certified holistic energy healing training program change over the 12 months of learning is the greatest gift of all to me – they are filled with enthusiasm and joy with their gifts – and they in turn help so many others.

I feel privileged and honored to be a small part of their growth.

Remember – “Nothing can dim the light that shines within”

With Love & Light,
